I've done enough prison time to know that it isn't where I want to be for the next 30 years. Working as a correctional officer has taught me that I can overcome almost any obstacle. Working for the Department of Corrections has helped sharpen my skills in Microsoft Word and Excel and contributed to my decision to major in management information systems. Also, the use of web-based programs through the department has been helpful with gaining knowledge in the field. Management information systems is challenging, yet really enjoyable. Some areas that I have enjoyed are linear regression, decision trees, and data modeling. I work full time, have a family, and attend school all at the same time. As you can probably conclude, time management for me is pertinent. I wake up early and go to bed late to thoroughly accomplish all aspects of my life. I continually develop more and more skills while attending the Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University. I am learning how to take a relevant business question, model it's data, and produce logical answers using analytical processes. I also, have learned new and germane techniques in presenting material after the resolution was discovered. I can't wait to put what I have learned to use in a career where learning is never ending.
