I also maintained the store's appearance, assisted with cafe takeout orders, and received and shelved book and gift products.As the Trident's magazine buyer, I tracked inventory and sales of magazines carried, as well as explored stockist opportunities through our distributor and with independent publishers. I curated both the magazine and zine sections, and managed the magazine consignment program.As the customer support specialist during COVID-19, I strategized and streamlined efficient, safe bookselling procedures; managed an influx of online orders; and communicated frequently with hundreds of customers about their orders.

As an editorial intern at Deep South Magazine, I read and reviewed novels, conducted author interviews, and provided comments and edits for over 300 submitted pieces of fiction and nonfiction for Southern Voice, the magazine’s original fiction, nonfiction, and poetry branch. While working under the magazine’s founding editor in chief, I gained insight into the inner workings of an online magazine and learned how to construct an editorial calendar and offer constructive feedback for revision.

Miami/Fort Lauderdale Area

As an intern at the Fort Lauderdale Historical Society, I revived the organization’s quarterly newsletter. I managed each step in the process, engineering the newsletter’s layout and design principles, and transcribing and editing copy for the articles. As well, I catalogued over 1,000 photographs, correcting decades-old identification errors along the way to properly classify the locations and individuals in each picture. My work at the historical society, though not directly engaged with my career goals, provided me greater understanding of and valuable insight into organizational efforts and efficiency.
