One for the World is a non-profit organization centered in effective altruism that encourages people to take the 1% pledge in order to combat global poverty. It has connected with colleges around the nation to create clubs, such as the one at UNC, to expand the outreach to the college demographic and build a movement of young people who want to make a difference. As VP of External Operations, I connect with greek life organizations, clubs, students and people in the surrounding community to host events, encourage "pledges", and get the word out about OFTW. I have connected with many different organizations on campus and am working towards getting us the #1 spot in the nation for number of club pledges (we are currently #2).

The TEACH Initiative provides tailored talks with students through two evidence-based curricula: our Mental Health Awareness lesson, and our Substance Use and Addiction lesson. We package these ideas in a low-intensity, conversational format, with the goal of approaching students as older peers. As a Communications and Connections Committee Member my role is to connect with high schools across North Carolina to introduce them to TEACH and set up plans to visit and present to the school if they chose. Additionally, I have recently been assigned as the Social Media Manager and am working to grow connections and a following across different campus organizations and with students.

In my role as a waitress, I worked 40+ hours a week, often responsible for both opening and closing tasks, while upholding high levels of energy and a positive attitude to improve the work atmosphere and team morale. As a result of working in a high-pressure environment, I strengthened my customer service skills and my ability to resolve conflicts in a calm and efficient manner. Furthermore, despite my inexperience and being the newest hire, my weekly earnings routinely exceeded those of my more experienced co-workers.

I worked as a nanny for three main families, according to their needs. In each family, there were between 2-5 children, ranging in age from infant to 7, with an average age of 4 years old. My responsibilities included food prep, laundry, deep cleaning, drop off/pick up, night time routines, and tutoring in Spanish and Math. It was a demanding job that required punctuality, focus, planning, and a positive attitude. In this particular family, whom I am providing information for, there were 4 children ranging in age from 1-5 and I worked with them the majority of the time - starting from when they only had two children until I went to college after their fourth. My hours varied but typically would be around 4-5 hours on weekdays and 6-7 on the weekends.

As a Student of the Year candidate, I led "Team 043" to raise money for blood cancer research and treatment. In the last 7 weeks of the campaign, each team competed to raise the most money for blood cancer treatment and research for the non-profit. During this competition my team raised well over $100,000 by relentlessly planning, holding meetings with businesses such as Scott Clark Toyota and Kendra Scott, delegating tasks to maximize efficiency, and organizing fundraisers.
