Lead Airman Education Team activities and programs.- Provide aerospace physiology instruction for the FAA's Civil Aerospace Medical Institute (CAMI) Aviation Medical Examiner (AME) Basic and AME Refresher courses, military Residents in Aerospace Medicine program, and other airman education courses.- Provides oversight for physiology training programs related to the altitude chambers, hypobaric chamber, and other training devices (disorientation devices, night vision goggle training); provides guidance on physiology issue in support of the CAMI research division. - Develop/maintain state-of-the-art knowledge for application of engineering, scientific, life support equipment, and biomedical advancements in altitude physiology applicable to aerospace operations and aerospace medicine. - Participate in the development of standards for oxygen systems that can be adapted to the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) SAE-10 Oxygen Committee; Aerospace Information Reports (AIR), and Technical Standard Orders (TSOs).- Maintain physiology training devices to meet FAA requirements. - Maintain high altitude physiology knowledge base and continue international collaboration relative to aerospace safety and certification requirements. - Support education, training, and certification events that are in the interest of CAMI’s Aerospace Medical programs and the Airman Education Plan.- Advisory role in support of Commercial Space Transportation for Occupant Safety Guidelines, Life Support System Evaluation, and Environmental Control System Development and Certification.
