Currently, I am working as a associate director at IP-LSP. In this role, I lead the company's efforts in developing new application areas for our process analytical technology products. Together with my team (3 FTE, all PhD level contributors), we work with CDMOs, university groups and the global top 20 pharma companies to understand the place of our products in the market and pharmaceutical development. Some new and/or exciting areas in pharmaceutical development im currently involved in: Antibody-Drug Conjugates (ADC), Lipid NanoParticles (LNPs), and Long acting injectables (LAI). In addition, i also work and consult on various more conventional formulations and components, e.g. milled slurries for tablets, Monoclonal Antibodies, Vaccines, Peptide drugs, some Excipients, and blood plasma products.My current main areas of interest/expertise: (sterile) Pharmaceutical manufacturing, API Nanomilling, downstream processing of biologics, Protein aggregate mechanisms and ways of detection, and in general, detailed analytical characterization of APIs and drug products before, during, and after manufacturing.

In this role, I was responsible for customer feasibility studies, basic R&D, and dissemination of experimental data through patents, whitepapers, peer-reviewed publications and conference proceedings. As part of my work, I participated in the EU H2020 consortium PAT4NANO where I led company efforts in the technology development workpackage. Expertise subjects include: (pharmaceutical) formulations, especially nanodispersions, microfluidics, analysis of nanomaterials through light scattering, and (API) nanomilling. - Part of a research group affiliated with HMS, MIT and the Brigham and Women’s hospital.- Successfully initiated and maintained a collaboration between project partners in the Netherlands, China and the USA.- Headed a group of 8 interdisciplinary researchers on a 4-month project.- Managed to invent and implement a new 3D printing technique for biomedical applications.In this assignment I led the development of a unique method of post-printing resolution enhancement for 3D printed gels. This method is anticipated to find widespread applications in current 3D printing capacities for generating higher-resolution gel-based structures without necessarily having to involve complex hardware upgrades or other printing parameter alterations.I was involved in this project from inception to completion, and during the project I led a technical team of 8 researchers of various technical and cultural backgrounds. This included managing the communication between groups of team members working in the Netherlands, China and the USA.

- Helped develop a new microfluidic plastic cartridge for a new point-of-care diagnostics platform (Minicare)- Learned how to work under Good Laboratory Practice (GLP)- Successfully organized communication between applications scientists (fluid dynamics / physical chemists) and engineers (laser ablation/injection molding/lithographic mask designers).- Tested and evaluated various cartridge designs using whole human blood, using my expertise on plastic microfabrication and human biochemistry.Previously, I worked as a junior researcher in the physical chemistry and clinical applications department. As part of a team supporting the development of the ‘MiniCare®’, a point-of-care diagnostics system. Specifically, I was responsible for designing, manufacturing and testing new plastic disposable cartridges for administration of patient blood to an IVD device. During this assignment I learned to work in cleanrooms under GLP conditions. Through continuous contact both with the cartridge manufacturing technicians and the device developers, I was able to contribute positively to the development and eventual launch of this new diagnostics platform technology.
