My interest in technology stemmed from taking a computer class in middle school and feeling like I was worlds behind my other classmates. We were using Word and I saw this girl going to town on customizing her fonts and I had no idea how she was doing it. I wanted to learn, so I asked my parents for a computer for Christmas. I enjoyed the solitude of diving into all the different functions and applications available to me. It got to a point where I was the go-to person if you needed PC help in my family. Though it was not as obvious to head into a tech education at first, after a failed attempt at a psychology degree, it seemed like the next obvious choice.I took my time in getting a Bachelor's in Information Systems Technology. During my education, I experienced using virtualization machines through Virtual Box. From using Windows Servers, where we dived into the use of Active Directory to briefly using LINUX.When it came to websites and applications we also dived into basic SQL. As well as the use of Dreamweaver and Adobe Fireworks. I successfully built three total websites, two using Dreamweaver and another using an HTML5 and CSS template that I expanded on to customize to my desires.While completing my education, I worked for Miami Dade College at the testing center where I helped students with their goals of completing examinations for job purposes or to enter college. Here I got a taste of customer service, troubleshooting and problem solving. I found myself troubleshooting both hardware and software to make sure the testing process continued as seamlessly as possible for the examinees as well as guiding customers through any questions they had about the college entrance or examination processes.Nearing the end of my education, I managed to land a temporary position with a start-up Biotechnology company called Curative. Here I helped manage COVID testing results where our goal was to reduce patient wait time by getting tests in the system resulted in a timely manner. My main task was as a liaison between our clients and the company, where with the help of our software developers and IT help desk, we succeeded in solving client software and hardware problems as efficiently as possible. After my temporary role ended, I was at a standstill until I discovered the Generation USA Jr. Cloud Practitioner program that I am currently enrolled it. Here I hope to further my tech knowledge and achieve the completion of the AWS Cloud Practitioner Certification to have as a foundation for my path into the tech industry.
