About Chris King
I have served nine years in a technical lead role at the Capacity Building Center for States. In my current position, I lead the virtual peer-networking effort under the Peer Services team. This effort is designed to connect high-level social workers from across jurisdictions so they can collaborate and benefit from each other’s knowledge. The Capacity Building Center for States is the largest federally funded provider of technical assistance to public, state, and territory child welfare agencies across the country, and its Peer Services Team is responsible for the management, delivery, and tracking of 80+ events across up to 25 peer groups each fiscal year. These events serve over 2,000 members representing 57 jurisdictions. I lead a team of nine members, directing operations, standardizing processes, integrating efforts with other service areas, and implementing Race Equity and Lived Experience principles to ensure peer group efforts are more equitable and inclusive. I have developed specialized technical aptitude in several virtual tools and platforms the Center has used across its two contract periods to support peer groups and deliver virtual events, such as Adobe Connect, Teams, SharePoint, Zoom.gov, Lyris, GovDelivery, ServiceNow, and Mural—and have played a key role in evaluating available technologies to ensure inclusion across diverse accessibility needs.
