Technical leader of the Cloud Security Automation team for IBM Cloud. The team performs a DevOps role, developing and managing security automation tools and services using Python, Kubernetes, Postgres, Redis, Saltstack, ServiceNow, and Nessus with integration and deployment through GitHub and Travis CI. The solutions developed drive security compliance for IBM Cloud clients and infrastructure. The team is also responsible for the global SaltStack infrastructure for IBM Cloud Compute.My role is to work with the Tribe technical lead to set technical direction. I drive the six person team to deliver and support systems achieving functional directives set forth by the Chief Information Security Officer for IBM Cloud. . I manage the team's Agile development process, running meetings and prioritize and schedule work. I also remain a senior development resource for the team both writing code and serving as a mentor to junior developers.

I develop software and automation for the Chief Information Security Officer for IBM Managed Cloud Services. The code that I write supports configuration management via SaltStack, DevOps CI/CD, patch deployment, and vulnerability scanning. Most of my work is Python in Docker containers on Kubernetes in the IBM Cloud or on Red Hat VMs. I also develop with C#, PowerShell, and HP (now MicroFocus) Operations Orchestration, and associated frameworks. Backend technologies include MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Couchbase. I manage the Agile SDLC for my squad using GitHub Enterprise and Zenhub. I flesh out user stories from management directives, manage point bidding, assign stories to sprints and releases, run the huddles, and manage the burn down. I have previously performed this role with Jira.

I am a Senior Architect on a team of architects, developers, and platform engineers. My team architects, builds, and manages automation that provides build and process management for Cloud Platform as a Service and Managed Hosting products using an Agile SDLC. My role includes architecture of automation processes for developers, development of automation workflows, engine support/design, and development of platform specific client code. Client platforms include Microsoft Server OSes, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CentOS, Docker, and VMWare vSphere. I design and develop automation with HP Operations Orchestration and develop client side code in Python, .NET, SQL, JavaScript, PowerShell, and Bourne shell. I work with the configuration management team developing states and modules for SaltStack. I developed and manage the automation team's Git process and design and build CI/CD worklflows using GitLab CI.

I worked in Operations and Engineering at various times progressing from entry level technical work to Principal Windows Engineer over 13 years. Principal Engineer responsibilities included tier 3 escalation, vendor relations, product acceptance testing, serving as a liaison to other departments, developing and executing complex implementation and change plans, proactive server farm planning, and interfacing with customers in time of outage. Additionally, I was responsible for management and planning of the security patch deployment process for 2500 Windows servers. I evaluated and prioritized the patches, tested the patches, developed the deployment schedule, and interfaced with the customer facing departments. I spent 8 months in London as the senior Windows technical resource while staffing and building our data center presence.I served as the top escalation point for MS-SQL for the hosting division and represented the company at Microsoft’s SQL Server 2005 alpha feedback sessions in Redmond. I performed incident, problem, and performance management for several hundred SQL Server instances for many Fortune 500 companies. I was responsible for hiring and training of DBA staff. I developed the code, documentation, and processes for our SQL Performance Analysis service which was used by several large name clients.I also worked in development while attached to Operations. I worked with another engineer to develop patch management and reporting, CMDB, and incident automation systems in C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET, Perl, MS-SQL, and MySQL. I did OO design and program architecture, SQL database architecture, SQL and .NET code development, code deployment, and system maintenance. I put in place the processes used for bug reporting, release management, code versioning, and system deployment. In all I developed and managed over 100,000 lines of code. In my last year in Engineering I served as the team lead for a development team located in India.
