This role was a one month long temporary vacancy, working for the I.T.service desk department at The Newcastle Building Society at Portland House. The main focus of the role was a short term project to work as part of a team to reduce a backlog of open application forms logged on the company’s internal system, so that the old system information could be migrated across to a new modified system. This role also involved helping the front line service desk team resolve any issues that were raised as part of the day to day running of the IT systems. This temporary vacancy helped me to use a variety of skills and utilise programmes that I had not used before, such as Sharepoint and access 360 . This role was quite different from the type of work that I had been used to in the past, but I found that I quickly integrated as part of the team to achieve the goals set. I enjoyed helping to resolve queries, learning new function processes, as well as increase my knowledge and understanding behind why these processes are created. Although this role was only part of a temporary project, I was praised by my employers on my ability to adapt to new situations in such a short time frame, and my overall willingness to help resolve queries in clear concise manner.

As part of a temporary agency placement, I worked as a Customer Service Complaints Advisor for D.P.D. Couriers Ltd. based in Newcastle. This role involved answering complaints and queries that customers had relating to their parcels and courier bookings,,arranging for bounded and delayed items to be re-routed on to the correct destination, and also escalating problems and claims queries to the relevant depots and departments within the company. The process was carried out entirely using the telephone and D.P.D’s in house software. Although the work was quite challenge I enjoyed my time working for the company, and was commended for my helpful attitude and my ability to maintain the service level targets,even though I had only been there a short while.

I progressed through various departments with Brewin Dolphin, gaining further experience, and understanding of working practices within the business and financial industry. The most recent department that I worked within was the Premises and Facilities department, which acts as a facilities management to various departments and branches within the Brewin Dolphin network. My main duties involved customer service data entry,document proof checking, scanning current documentation, department support, supply replenishment, Purchase Ledger relationship liaison, report writing and reprographics. I was also involved with document management, document archiving and statistic monitoring. Also during my time at Brewin Dolphin , I held a year long secondment position within the Financial Crime and Verification department. This helped me develop skills and knowledge relating to attention to detail when carrying out working practices, as well as a further understanding of the legalities in the working environment.
