Worked on a number of EMV-related type approval projects such as developing the functional type approval specification for the MasterCard "PayPass – M/Chip" contactless smart card payment application and developing test scripts for use by laboratories to perform EMV terminal type approval and PayPass card digital interface type approval.Investigated and resolved various interoperability issues between different vendors' EMV payment cards and terminals (contact and contactless).Developed methods for achieving interoperability between MasterCard PayPass cards and ITSO readers for contactless transit ticketing systems.As a member of the card committee of the GlobalPlatfom smart card industry consortium, proposed and developed changes to the GlobalPlatform card specification to achieve interoperability with the Multos smart card scheme.

Developed and managed the interoperability type-approval process for implementations of the Multos smart card operating system.Represented the company on the technical committee of the Multos smart card scheme industry forum, participating in working groups to add support for contactless operation to the scheme, improve the post card-issuance capabilities of the scheme, ehance the data-addressing capabilities of card applications and improve support for GSM SIM applications.Developed post-mask modifications for particular implementations of Multos, both to resolve problems and to meet new requirements.

Led a team a to implement a programme of enhancements for an airliner landing gear controller.Analysed and assessed requirements and a member of the software design team for the propeller controller of a turboprop airliner.Reviewed and developed test scripts for various aircraft engine controllers.

Led team to develop a sub-system of the man-machine interface for a naval electronic support measures system.Wrote microcode to implement a clutter-locking algorithm to perform aircraft motion compensation for an airborne radar system.Developed software to control an airborne radar system.
