About Christopher Morton
Having completed a Master’s in International relations I am looking to begin a new career related to my studies.After completing my BA in French and philosophy for which I received a first class grade with distinction in spoken French, I worked as a lecturer at the University of Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, teaching English language and phonetics. I then returned to England to work as a teacher completing the Teach First graduate programme which placed me into a school with pupils from socially disadvantaged backgrounds, initially as an unqualified teacher. After 3 successful and enjoyable years as a teacher, I decided to pursue my interests in international politics and took a Master’s in International Relations at King’s College University, completing a dissertation on the discourse of the Brexit campaign and the motivations behind the Leave vote. I received an overall grade of distinction with a dissertation grade in the top five per cent for my cohort.I have a passionate interest in international politics and related areas of human rights, democratisation, conflict resolution, advocacy and international development. While finishing my Master's degree I began an internship with the Democratic Progress Institute, contributing to their peacebuilding projects in Turkey and Syria. In addition to my educational and professional experience I volunteer at the Red Cross refugee support centre, engaging in an issue about which I am passionate and improving my knowledge and experience working with refugees. I am fluent in French and Spanish and have a basic level of Arabic. I am now looking to take build on my professional and educational experiences in a career allowing me to engage in international questions such as human rights, migration and conflict resolution.

Programmes Intern
CurrentDPI is an NGO focused on conflict resolution, peace building, democratic transition and the promotion of human rights, with a focus on Turkey and Syria. My role has included management of DPI’s twitter account, the organisation of events in Ireland and Norway and conducting research into the referendum on the independence of Iraqi Kurdistan (held on September 25) and the role of third parties in peace processes. I have written briefings on these topics which have been sent out to DPI’s partners and backers and are to be used for upcoming DPI events.

For 3 years I taught French and Spanish at Harris Academy Purely. As well as teaching French to pupils aged 11-18 and Spanksh to pupils aged 11-15, my responsibilities included being form tutor,department representative for Special Educational Needs (2014-15) and department representative for teaching and learning (2015-2016). I was also head of the year 8 boys football team (2014-2015) and have been leader of numerous trips including a trip for 50 pupils to Paris in 2015.
