As VP SVT I was responsible for the strategy, approach and execution of software quality assurance for Sonus Networks with over 150 Engineers in facilities in the US, UK and India. Select Contributions include:* Established a new method of delivering software to market that resulted in on time delivery and significantly higher product quality.* Created a worldwide equipment sharing practice that accelerated market delivery of a new 10G product and saved the company significant amount of money in prototype support. This led to broad adoption and was institutionalized as a best practice for equipment and lab management.

For the majority of my time at Juniper Networks I led 300+ engineers in the US and India, heading software development and quality assurance; served as a member of the leadership team, partnering with the GM, product managers, and marketing executives to grow the business.Select contributions include:*Established and led the US team in a new strategic direction which resulted in revenue opportunities in excess of $1B.*Transitioned development of the $300M legacy product lines from the US to India with zero customer impact.*Mentored/Coached the India leadership team prior to and after taking ownership of the product line and personally developed and promoted the first Juniper Engineering VP in India.*Created a metrics-based release model and ensured adherence to benchmarks and performance measures. *Provided executive level support for sales and customer service engagements with Tier 1 Service Providers around the world.

For a period of 15 months at Juniper, I served as acting Vice President for the largest business unit in the company driving all R&D activity for the division comprised of 600 engineers, producing 3 major product lines and more than $1.5B in annual revenue.In this position, I managed a multi-geographic team running hardware, software, and quality assurance activities. I was also an integral member of the business unit leadership team, working with the general manager, product manager, and marketing personnel to expand business operations and revenue generation.Key achievements include:*Established an innovative development partner model.*Successfully launched the development of a fourth product line.*Led a company wide programs for Juniper to improve scale, quality, and efficiency for software development by 1,000+ engineers.* Patent Review Committee member charged with advancing the patent portfolio for the BU.*Recognized as a “Top Tier” performer by all GMs across Juniper.

In 2006, I founded a company specializing in the development of security software aimed at IP protection in outsourced environments. I developed the business concept, strategy, business plan, sales presentations, marketing collateral, and sales tools. Achievements include:*Engaged VC firms through three rounds of due diligence. *Identified and worked with potential customers, partners, and advisors.*Identified and engaged an OEM channel partner.

At Reef Point, I was recruited by the Board of Directors to help transition the company into a new market segment. To facilitate this goal, I redirected a 50-member engineering team focused on routing solutions to a focus on the service provider mobility market. I also generated a new roadmap and rolled out key initiatives to address the IMS fixed mobile convergence market.Accomplishments include:*Implemented significant changes in R&D, recruiting new technical leads, creating high-energy/high-output focused teams, and instituting major product improvements.*Formed a low-cost, off-shore R&D organization in Southeast Asia comprised of 20-30 engineers.

Driving the development for security and routing products in the Nortel Enterprise portfolio. Bringing together 5 teams (90+ Engineers) developing Firewall, VPN Gateway, Application Switching, and Routing across 4 geographic locations. Represented the Enterprise division on the corporate CTO’s Technology Excellence selection council

I joined this early stage startup as a member of the Executive Leadership Team and contributed to the strategic planning process focusing on new technologies and markets such as ATM Access, Packet Voice, and Carrier-based LAN services.While at Sonoma Systems, I recruited and hired the Engineering team, crafted product and technology plans, selected key technology partners, and helped present the vision to early investors. I also conducted sales presentations for OEM partners and key clients, including WorldCom, Sprint, and France Telecom.Other key accomplishments include:*Participated in presenting to Venture Capital firms, raising over $50M in 3 rounds of financing.*Opened the Massachusetts office and recruited all technical and administrative staff; built the engineering department from the ground up, hiring 65 engineers with zero attrition over four years.*Defined product architecture and oversaw evaluation and selection of key technology partners.*Introduced and adopted Agile Methods in the form of continuous test and integration to the development team.Company was sold to Nortel in 2000 for $540M.
