After spending almost two decades of my life working in various areas of the financial industry, I have garnered a decent knowledge of just about every major area of the financial services industry. I thought it was time to bring my professional experience in line with my personal values and assist clients in making sense of personal finance. My client does not need to be a financial aficionado or a regular reader of the Wall Street Journal. I have also worked with some advisors that are quick to put their income over the client. This is partially why I struggled at the big banks and brokerage firms. I was unwilling to compromise my ethics and morals just to make more money. Luckily, there is a hard push away from the traditional brokerage firm and more towards financial planners who have a duty, and legal obligation, to do what is right for their clients.I also want to make financial planning assessable to the gay community- who until recently have been mostly ignored by the financial services industry, and if not ignored, certainly not always made to feel welcomed.
