[Based in Brazil for 4 years, where my husband was working for BG Group].Board member of the Community Development Committee of the International Club of Rio de Janeiro: - The CDC fundraises amongst the international community, decides how to allocate funds between NGOs and works with those NGOs - I was responsible for the CDC's relationship with Luta Pela Paz, an NGO operating in a violent and impoverished favela of Rio de Janeiro. Made monthly visits and ran events. Luta Pela Paz runs sport, education and social inclusion programmes which help prevent young people in the favela of Complexo do Mare from entering the violent drugs trade by giving them a brighter future.PTA committee member, Rio International School: - Responsible for communications. Part of an active committee trying to improve the school. Helped run fundraising eventsOrganised events within British community of Rio de Janeiro - Organised a large Scottish Dancing Family Event with a visiting live Scottish band, a Jubilee party for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in 2012, and helped organise an event to celebrate the Royal Wedding in 2011.Other: - Co-founder of a very active Facebook forum group for expat mothers in Barra, Rio de Janeiro - Single-handedly organised successful fundraising event for Lar Tia Edna, an orphanage in Sao Paulo - Member of the Organising Committee for 'Celebration of the World', an international fair showcasing different countries at Graded School of Sao Paulo, Brazil
