I am a writer and an educator -- words define my life and my career, whether writing my own words or helping shape the words of others through education and editorial practice. While I enjoy writing on my own, I thrive in teaching others about writing.After earning two Master's degrees (one in Mass Communication and Media Studies, the other in Literature and Writing Studies), I spent many years working in higher education as an academic advisor, professor, and writing consultant. My passion is for helping students unlock their inner writers, guiding them towards success not only in my class, but throughout their entire educational careers. In 2012, I made a shift into the private sector and began working in video games, which allowed me to utilize much of the mass communication theory I'd studied in real-world practice. While I held multiple roles during my nearly six years in the industry, each role required strong writing skills, exceptional editorial abilities, and detail-oriented organization. In 2018, I left the private sector to pursue a non-traditional career path. Now, I teach part-time, lead workshops, and I consult and work as a freelancer. And, of course, I write. Through it all, words have and will continue to be my defining factor in my professional life.
