Evolved strategic communications for The City of Calgary's corporate environmental and workplace safety programs by:- Securing manager approval and coordinating first-ever research to understand employee perceptions of workplace safety and employee recycling and driving behaviours. - Responding to employee research that showed a disconnect with senior management on workplace safety by facilitating stronger managerial participation in the corporate safety communications strategy; included developing tools to prompt discussions on culture, incident investigations, performance metrics, and program improvements. - Initiating communications on occupational exposure to opioids and a protocol to consistently communicate about serious incidents. Highlight: Led communications on the rollout of a new data management tool for workplace safety for all 15,000+ employees, resulting in 118% increase in reporting of safety concerns and 18-20% improvement in employee perception metrics for safety leadership and culture. This work earned a prestigious IABC Gold Quill Award of Excellence in 2018 (see award details below).
