Technical LeadHewlett Packard Enterprise Jan 2020 - Mar 2023Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul AreaCray acquired by HPE. -
Software EngineerCray Inc. Aug 2018 - Jan 2020Help develop software with the Cray Performance Tools group. -
Senior Software EngineerHewlett Packard Enterprise Jan 2017 - Aug 2018Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul AreaSGI was acquired by HPE. -
Software EngineerSgi Jun 2015 - Jan 2017Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul AreaRewrote an engineering prototype of MPInside, SGI’s proprietary MPI and SHMEM profiler, in C++14 to be more efficient, maintainable, and less bug-prone.Helped maintain and develop features for MPT, SGI's implementation of MPI.Introduced unit tests, better code reviews and standards to the group with measurable success.Mentored college-level interns by providing assistance, doing pair programming, and teaching good programming practices. -
Linux Kernel Software EngineerSgi Aug 2013 - Jun 2015Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul AreaResponsible for maintaining the XPMEM (cross-partition memory) kernel module.Quickly learned how to write kernel code and fixed a few long-standing and hard to solve bugs.Architected and designed a kernel module with corresponding C++11 user-space applications (called hubstats and linkstats) to collect hardware statistics from an SGI UV machine. -
Performance Engineering InternSgi May 2013 - Aug 2013Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul AreaDeveloped a scalable, shared-memory version of the Graph500 benchmark to run on SGI UV systems. -
Graduate Research AssistantFlorida State University, Department Of Mathematics Aug 2007 - May 2013Tallahassee, FlDeveloped large-scale, high-performance wave scattering modeling software for moving and reflecting boundaries in C++11, OpenMP, MPI, METIS, and Boost that was scalable to thousands of processors.Performed computational studies to determine the time-stability of modeling software’s numerical algorithm in relation to the mesh geometry by generating test meshes and obtaining “time steps” for the associated time integrator and spatial operator.Presented research at the Computational Mathematics Seminar at Florida State University, November 2011, and March and April 2012.Investigated applications to acoustic and electromagnetic problems in remote sensing, seismology, medical imaging, and aeroacoustics disciplines.Organized the weekly Graduate Student Seminar, and secured twenty graduate students to present and debate their current research.Developed and delivered four tutorials to computational mathematics students on MPI and git. -
Graduate Teaching AssistantFlorida State University, Department Of Mathematics Aug 2007 - May 2013Tallahassee, FlTaught eight classes and seventeen labs with between thirty and eighty students each, which included Pre-calculus, Calculus, Business Calculus, and Ordinary Differential Equations classes and labs that met between three and five times weekly.Managed three Teaching Students per semester during labs.Organized and taught a software seminar for ten undergraduates on Software Engineering with C++.Created and graded exams, assignments, and projects and maintained office hours.Earned the Distinguished Teaching Award as one of four TAs selected out of over 100 graduate students, April 2011. -
Research AssistantFlorida State University, Department Of Scientific Computing May 2007 - Aug 2007Tallahassee, FlDeveloped and programmed a C++ finite element method for simulating pollution transport that occurs in North Florida’s Karst aquifer system in support of two professors. -
Research AssistantFlorida State University, Department Of Physics 2005 - 2007Tallahassee, FlDeveloped software that simulated particle interactions using C++ and Geant4 for the Upstream Photon Veto, one of four detectors for the GlueX project searching for Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) exotics.Maximized the efficiency and resolution of the detector subject to cost by optimizing lead and scintillator geometry, and programmed and performed simulations of varying detector configurations in C++ using the Geant4 simulation toolkit.Performed experiments on cast vs. extruded scintillators to determine the most cost-effective materials for the upstream photon veto detector.Wrote a description and analysis of the simulations that was published as a technical note within the GlueX collaboration.Created a 2-axis automated motor system to move a radioactive source along a bar of scintillator to study the positional dependence on light collection using different placements of the fiber optic cables. -
Research AssistantFlorida State University, Department Of Physics 2004 - 2005Tallahassee, FlResearched and developed speed improvements for a signal decomposition algorithm for the GRETINA project, a Gamma-Ray Energy Tracking Array collaboration between Berkeley and Oak Ridge, Lawrence Berkeley, and Argonne National Laboratories, and other institutions.Discovered that the basis signals that were created using theoretical models were flawed in that the interpolation for the potential on the surface of the crystals was not calculated correctly.Monitored event rates and filled detectors with liquid nitrogen to ensure correct experimental operations in support of research at the FSU Superconducting Linear Accelerator Laboratory.
