As Art Director at Lonely Planet the department I led produced a variety of reference books covering travel, wellbeing and food. Each book has its own unique branding, and I developed the look and packaging for each title according to the particular market we planned to sell it in. In addition I created strong visuals for each project for digital display and marketing collateral.• Managed cross-functional team of 10 in 4 locations (London, New York, Franklin and Melbourne), ranging from designers, senior designers, art directors, illustrators, cartographers and sub-editors.• Directed and validated over 200 titles for a global audience printed in 20 countries.• Launched New York office with lead Publisher and recruited and guided new team. Increased design capacity by 40%.• Overhauled the obsolete design culture and created a progressive and an collaborative design team that looked at evolving trends in graphics and illustration.• Designed a number one best-sellers on Amazon, with Ultimate Travelist selling over 1 million copies making it Lonely Planet’s all time biggest seller.• Won the National Geographic Traveller Reader Awards 2019 in the Beyond the Recipe Book category with Around the World in 80 Food Trucks.• Directed & validated digital products, including designing UI for Lonely Planet micro-site ‘Best in Travel’.
