Communications Specialist
Current• Support flight operations by providing Communication assets. Ensure that, during actual aircraft operations, communication services are available. • Responsible for operation, upgrade, repair, and maintain equipment, systems, and subsystems for Command, Control and Communication (C3), and items used for Tagging, Tracking, and Locating (TTL)• Disseminate daily intelligence briefs to the aircrew• Operate and maintain UHF, HF, VHF, and OTH secure communications• Develop a communications mentoring program to qualify Afghan communications personnel and transition the responsibilities unique to the communications work center, without coalition force or contractor assistance• Maintains and operate tactical radios to include the AN/PRC-117F/G, PRC-15, PRC-148, AN/PRC-7(CSEL Survival radio), and COTS (Commercial Off-the Shelf) Personal Locator Beacons• Serves as the primary COMSEC Custodian responsible for the handling, issuing and destruction of required cryptographic keys needed to support all tactical radio equipment.• Serves as unit’s ISOPREP Manager in case of isolated personnel recovery event happens• Manages unit’s Blood Chit Program
