As tech lead, my core focus was the design, architecture and engineering of the Editorial Tools platform used by newsrooms including News.com.au, The Australian, Daily Telegraph, Taste, and Kidspot, whilst engaging and maintaining relationships with Product Managers, UX&Design, Editorial and tech stakeholders. Our tech stack comprised of React/Redux/D3 on the frontend and cms, and a serverless backend built on AWS (NodeJS, Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, SecretsManager) and included integrations with complex internal systems and third parties such as Adobe Analytics and Sales Force Marketing Cloud.Delivering live election results was another major focus, with high profile widgets and data visualisations across the masthead sites on election nights with near realtime coverage of results.A core Election UI library was created to deliver reactive user interfaces for Federal elections and QLD/NSW/VIC/SA state elections. VueJS, D3 and GIS electorate maps were heavily used on the frontend, while AWS serverless micro-services were used for data processing, transformation and integrations with Australia’s electoral commissions.
