Other responsibilities include welder qualification, oversights and equipment calibrations. Inspection methods include Visual Testing, Penetrant Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing, Ultrasonic Testing and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing examinations and receipt inspections. Holtec provides equipment and services required to successfully implement used nuclear fuel and non-fuel waste projects, providing custom solutions to address client-specific needs. Holtec’s wet storage, dry storage and transportation systems provide confinement, radiation shielding, structural integrity, criticality control and heat removal for used nuclear fuel. Storage and transportation products for dry and wet nuclear waste include HI-STORM (Storage Module), HI-STAR (Storage, Transport and Repository), MPC (Multi-Purpose Canister), HI-TRAC (Transfer Cask).

Scope of work included performing various NDT testing methods on multiple Virginia and Columbia class nuclear powered submarines. Critical components included frames, tanks, decking, hull sectional welds and piping systems. Responsibilities of Field Safety Manager include ensuring that employees are appropriately trained, monitored, and observed to confirm conformance with established MISTRAS and applicable client, health and safety requirements. Actively manage any individuals involved in an injury or incident, including transportation to a medical facility and interfacing with medical personnel in order to reduce lost time exposure. And remain diligent in promoting safety awareness, a commitment to quality, and to procedural and regulatory adherence at all times.

Primarily placed on a long term assignment at Newport News Shipbuilding in Newport News, VA. Scope of work included performing various examinations on critical components including frames, tanks, decking, hull sectional welds and piping systems of the new construction and refurbishing of nuclear powered submarines and aircraft carriers. I also assisted in seasonal outage work performing Radiography Testing, Liquid Penetrant Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing and Ultrasonic Testing methods at various locations. I was often utilized as a shift/ crew leader to assure required tasks were efficiently and safely accomplished.

Primarily placed at Plant Vogtle Units 3&4 for the new construction of the Westinghouse AP1000 Advanced Passive Light Water Reactor design in Waynesboro, GA performing all necessary examinations. Direct communication and interaction with the customer were crucial to complete daily required tasks. I worked in depth to appropriate AWS and ASME codes and standards. Daily scope included but was not limited to performing VT, MT, PT, UT and RT examinations. Radiography operations included more extensive preparation and dedication to complete with success. During my tenure I was placed in a leadership position as shift supervisor overseeing site operations of 30+ technicians.

Resident Inspector at Roche Pharmaceuticals which is now known as Thermo-Fisher Scientific in Florence, SC. The scope was to establish and maintain a stable mechanical integrity program of baseline and periodic inspections of fabricated and pre-existing on site equipment such as glass lined pressure vessels, coated and non-coated pressure vessels, above and below ground storage tanks, concrete foundations, pressure relief valves, heat exchangers and also associated piping and equipment. Working daily with site personnel for scheduling of inspections to correlate with the systems run/down time. Daily interaction with engineering personnel for isometric, P&ID's and equipment design drawings for accurate examinations and documentation. During this time I received all of the necessary training needed for the regulation requirements that were implemented per the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). In 2015, I was then requested for a separate project and I was then transferred to BP Chemical in Wando, SC at the Cooper River site which is outside of Charleston, SC. My responsibilities were very similar to the responsibilities I previously held at Roche Pharmaceuticals. I was able to make the transition very smoothly with minimal time/ work loss. Being the only on site inspector at the time, I was capable to interact with the customer and on site personnel daily. Coordinating with daily operations was key to the success of the project. I was the main point of contact and coordinator during seasonal outages to complete a wide variety of inspections in various methods.
