David P. Thomas is the CEO of Markets and Medicaid for Centene, a leading healthcare enterprise committed to helping people live healthier lives. Prior to this position, he served as Regional Senior Vice President for Centene, and President and CEO of its subsidiary Fidelis Care, a health plan serving 1.7 million members across all 62 counties of New York State.Thomas held positions of increasing responsibility during his tenure with Fidelis Care. He started in 1999 as Director, Strategic Planning and Development. He was appointed Vice President in 2001, and served as Senior Vice President, Operations from 2006-2009, until he assumed the position of Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer. In the fall of 2012, he was appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, and was named President in the summer of 2018. He was appointed President and CEO in January 2019.Before joining Fidelis Care, Thomas was Director, Business Development for Advanced Health Corporation, a physician practice management company based in Tarrytown, NY. From 1996-1997, Thomas served as Director of Managed Care at Maimonides Medical Center, a 705-bed acute care hospital in Brooklyn, where he began working in 1993 as a Planning Associate. He has also held positions with Travelers Insurance and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan.Thomas received a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University at Albany, and a Master of Business Administration from the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College in Manhattan.
