About David Bailey
In 1995 I qualified as a Building Services Technician. This gave me the experience and confidence within the electrical, mechanical and HVAC industries to be able to take on a multitude of tasks. With the varied tasks that could present themselves I found his role very challenging and fulfilling. With each company I progressed as an engineer and increased my knowledge/experience and found Building (energy) Management Systems a new area of interest. In 2006 while working on a personal project to reduce domestic energy consumption and increase energy efficiency I became interested in PV. This led to a change of direction and a career in the PV industry which in 2006 was very much a specialist area. In that time I have seen the installations and technology grow to what it is today. My primary role was a commissioning technician but I would be required to undertake training, supervision, on site project management, installation, fault finding, repair, SCADA, HV switching and to be honest anything that presented an issue with the progress of a project.I have vast experience of installations ranging from the smallest domestic, to 5MW commercial roof top to 43MW solar farms within the UK and South Africa.I find the renewable energy sector challenging and exciting. In 2016 I moved to Australia and found Employment with (what is now) Smart Energy Answers. Since its beginning I have gained my Australian Electrical Licence and become a CEC Approved Installer. I have become an accomplished installer of PV within the domestic and commercial markets and battery installer for the domestic market. I also carry out Field Service work (fault finding, repairs, servicing, surveys, manufacturer’s warranty, monitoring). Im also involved in training and am a ‘technical help/adviser’ for a number of colleagues and installers around the country who my number has been passed on to. I enjoy my work immensely and always give 100%. Being in SEA gives me direct contact with the customers which I enjoy meeting and being able to deliver assistance, understanding and installations that I can be proud of.
