Fema Region Ix Emergency Communications Coordinator
CurrentServes as an emergency communications technical expert and advisor to the FEMA Region 9 Regional Administrator on national and regional disaster emergency communications requirements for regional states/territories to include Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, American Samoa, Guam, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the Federated States of Micronesia. Advises FEMA Regional Administrator on status of National, Federal, State, Local, Tribal and Regional disaster emergency communications requirements and plans. Provides technical expertise in systems management for disaster emergency communications. Leads and facilitates projects designed to improve operations, plans, and exercises with emphasis on effective use of command, control and communications systems to meet FEMA needs. Serves as the principal advisor to the Regional Administrator on the employment of disaster emergency communications systems in support of first responder requirements. Coordinates meetings and work of the Regional Emergency Communications Coordination (RECC) Working Group designed to promote information sharing, solve complex interoperability issues, develop standards and advocate on behalf of the emergency management community to meet anticipated mission requirements. Converts Federal, state and local policies into operational plans, standards and instructions for new communication systems and provides recommendations to the Regional Administrator to ensure standardization, compliance, and uniformity throughout the Region 9 area of responsibility. Serves as project officer and contracting officer’s technical representative for the acquisition and integration of telecommunication systems, subsystems, and associated support systems.
