David is an Entrepreneur, an Angel Investor, a volunteer Director, a husband of a very adventurous and tolerant wife, a father of four amazing young adults and a grandfather. He loves risk taking in adventure sports like rock climbing, mountaineering, skiing, snowboarding, ocean swimming and mountain biking. But, he practices risk management to assure he survives to live and play another day.He is the co-founder and CEO of Tapaas, the pre-imminent Risk Management and High Frequency Data Analytics Platform provider for Retail OTC Derivative Brokers worldwide. After spending most of his career in the innovative and high energy technology departments of the worlds largest investment banks, including Salomon Brothers, Citigroup, Macquarie Bank and Westpac Bank where he worked with the most gifted and talented software engineers, his dream became creating a space (or company) where these talented engineers can home in on who they really are and what they really offer and ultimately own their amazing software creations.Tapaas has been his first venture created for Dr Tom Vasak, one of the most talented engineers he ever worked with whom he met in 1999 while leading the application development team of Citigroup Australia. Since bootstrapping Tapaas with sweat equity, Tom and David have captured a significant portion of the market and attracted other incredibly talented former colleagues from the investment banking world to scale the Tapaas business and take it to new heights. Of their many achievements, they’ve most recently become an OEM Partner of Kx, the world’s most powerful Vector Database, the de facto standard for high frequency time series data analytics used by 9 out of 10 of the largest investment banks on Wall Street.David started his career in Washington DC working for Price Waterhouse. He soon saw the greater opportunity in their Management Consulting services and obtained a transfer to work as a Subject Matter Expert and Business Analyst. There he began to develop his technical skills from working with software engineers. He learned several programming languages and how to design robust risk management applications. He became team leader of software development teams and moved into more strategic roles of solutions architect and enterprise architect. He has worked in the USA, Japan, the UK and now in Australia.He left Westpac Bank in Australia in 2013 to pursue his dream of creating a Software as a Service company where the talented engineers he had worked with in investment banking could pursue their talents and own their creations.
