Developed some of the first environmental management systems for major corporations prior to the establishment of the ISO 14001 standard. Acted as the Environmental Co-ordinator at a papermill for 8 months while EY managed the facility in receivership. Arthur D. Little was the premier environmental audit firm in the world and I helped establish their environmental audit practice in Canada. Developed and ran the Canadian Environmental Auditing Roundtable, a precursor to the Canadian Environmental Auditing Association.Work activities included in depth environmental compliance audits of complex environmentally significant industrial operations across Canada and in the northeastern US. Led training courses for industrial clients on environmental auditing and regulatory compliance.

Hired as Northern Telecom's (Nortel's) first full time environmental management professional, working in the Health, Safety, Environment Department in a corporate role responsible for supporting environmental issues in approximately 20 manufacturing and research facilities across Canada. Responsible for development of the company's first Environmental Management Program, which addressed issues such as hazardous waste management (e.g. PCBs, lead, CFCs), underground tanks, contaminated sites, waste reduction and chemical storage facilities. Established Nortel's first environmental audit program, including training of a pool of internal staff auditors based in Canada and the US.
