As a S92A/S61N SAR and Passenger Helicopter Captain/Instructor supported companies such as: Shell, BP, Cairns Energy, STAT Oil in Gulf of Mexico, St John’s Newfoundland Canada, Nuuk Greenalnd, Brunei and Barrow, Alaska with VIH Cougar/Cougar Helicopters. Conducted initial and upgrade training for pilots in S61 and S92 helicopters.

Responsible for training rotary wing aviators in coordinating, planning, and flying various day/night, all-weather missions such as Search and Rescue, Law Enforcement, Maritime Safety, Aid to Navigation and Maintenance Test flights involving HH3F (S-61N) and HH60J (SK-70C) helicopters. Served at the following Air Stations: Elizabeth City-NC, Sitka-Alaska, Cape Cod-MA, & Clearwater-FL. Held additional duties of Current Operations Officer (flight scheduling), Flight Services Division Head, Aviation/Ground Safety Department Head, Personnel Officer, Training Division Officer, and member of Flight Examination/Standardization Boards. Deployed as Officer-in Charge of helicopter contingents to various Caribbean locations for SAR, drug interdiction and other Homeland Security missions.1999-2002Chief Atlantic Area Command Center/Rescue Coordination Center (RCC) Norfolk: Responsible for directing/oversight of Search & Rescue and other Homeland Security missions in the 4.5 million square nautical mile area of the Coast Guard’s Atlantic Ocean SAR region. Coordinated with Coast Guard Headquarters on SAR program issues/policies. Directly supervised a staff of 21. Oversaw operations & asset management of SAR aircraft and vessels. Responsible for maintaining relationships with foreign Rescue Coordination Centers & other US/State/DOD agencies. Managed: division budget, Incident Management Teams (IMT) & Disaster Response Plans. Conducted daily briefs to Area Commander & Senior Staff. Recognized by the Commandant of the US Coast Guard for outstanding achievement. Oversaw major projects such as Command Center technology upgrade and creation of new Atlantic Area SAR Operations Procedures.
