My path to advising organizations actually started as a political organizer straight out of college, where I was able to focus on organizing people to have impact on issues I cared about. That path gave me unique opportunities for leadership at a younger age, and I relished it. It required me to become a student in the study of human motivation, and how you impact people and move them to action.Influence and impact was and is the thread I carried to the next step in my career. After leaving politics, I focused my MBA on the management and behavioral sciences, and the study of human motivation. That led me to Hay Group and then Korn Ferry to advise companies on all the levers of impacting people and performance: incentives, development, culture - and how they help people and organizations work better. As a Vice Chairman for Korn Ferry, an ESG Partner and a member of North American Leadership, I help many Boards and senior management teams align these different levers to their strategy, including how they design incentives, manage performance, develop leaders, plan for succession, build teams, compensate executives, and communicate with shareholders. I work with many public companies, alternative asset managers and work extensively with private equity-backed portfolio companies. What I do with clients is one example of what Korn Ferry does as an organizational consulting firm. We work with our clients to design optimal organization structures, roles, and responsibilities. We help them hire the right people and advise them on how to reward and motivate their workforce while developing professionals as they navigate and advance their careers. I've been in this business since 2003 because I love what I get to do.
