I am a thirty-nine year Law Enforcement veteran with thirty-six years spent in the field of narcotics. I am the Commander of the South Central Ohio Major Crimes Unit, a multi jurisdictional law enforcement task force which serves Fairfield County, Pickaway County, the City of Logan in Hocking County and Ohio University In that capacity I supervise seventeen Police Officers, and Sheriff Deputies assigned to the task force while directing their investigative activities, and setting the organizational philosophy. During my tenure we have implemented a more comprehensive approach to addressing the issue of drug trafficking and substance use. Our unit addresses the supply chain of drugs through complex conspiracy based investigations which take advantage of technology and result in long term removal of drug traffickers from the community. A team of uniformed officers that address street level complaints impacting quality of life in the community, and community outreach through Project FORT. A Project FORT Detective with a community paramedic and peer supporter meet with individuals suffering from substance use disorders and connect them to available treatment and recovery programs outside of the criminal justice system and frequently conduct other community based outreach events. Prior to my current position I was assigned to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation's Clandestine Laboratory Unit where I was frequently called upon as a subject matter expert involving the clandestine manufacture of methamphetamine and other synthetic drugs. I worked undercover for nearly sixteen years and have been a Law Enforcement trainer since 1993. I have created numerous narcotic and methamphetamine related training courses. I frequently train public safety professionals and citizens throughout the United States, and am the Past President of the Ohio Narcotic Officers Association, the current President of the Ohio Task Force Commanders Association, Secretary of the National Narcotics Officer Association Coalition, and a member of the Ohio Department of Public Safety’s Drug Enforcement Strategy Executive Committee.
