I have been working in real estate SaaS for 15 years. First as a full-stack developer and now specializing in Systems Architecture and Systems Administration.As a child I told people I wanted to be an inventor or a scientist but I spent my free time copying BASIC code out of Byte magazine. This trend continued through college while I was getting my BS in biology but spending an equal amount of time teaching myself programming languages. College hobbies included trying out new Linux distros (before live CDs made it easy), Perl poetry, and developing a BB system for my friends and I to use. I continued to live in the dorms until broadband became available off-campus.Fast forward to career time. I was looking for laboratory jobs while I helped pay the bills through freelance development and web design. When I saw the job listing at IDX for a part-time developer I wasn't going to apply because I "wasn't going to learn anything." My wife insisted that I get out of the house once-in-a-while, and am very I glad she did. Fifteen years later I have still never worked part time and I have learned more than I even knew existed.Current hobbies include: Home automation with Home Assistant, Alexa Development, FDM 3D printing, Dungeons & Dragons, and I hope to be the first winner of the Nobel Prize for Minecraft.
