Executing the crucial Head of Finance role in an array of markets, I managed and developed the overall financial function of the business and provided strategic direction to the financial performance within the multi-billion dollar company. I was extensively involved in generating management accounts and board reports in addition to providing engaging and informative presentations for the Board of Directors as required. I was also fully accountable for the preparation of detailed annual budget, P/L and cash flow forecasts.Additionally, I collaborated effectively with the senior management team to develop key strategies in relation to pricing, promotions, acquisition, capital investment and resources. I played an instrumental role in sustaining business growth by closely evaluating the profitability performance of the company’s customer accounts, products and channels while implementing and managing cost-reduction initiatives.

Papua New Guinea

As Financial Controller at Papua New Guinea, I spearheaded the daily operations of a highly productive Finance Department with 22 personnel and ensured complete adherence to the relevant financial controls and company policies. I also contributed to preparing management accounts for review by the CFO on a monthly basis in addition to producing a comprehensive report outlining the company KPIs.Complying with all pertinent policies and procedures, I prepared the monthly Finance Board Report and Statutory Financial Accounts. Working effectively with the CFO, I prepared the annual budget and contributed to regular forecasts as requested by the Board of Directors. Assessing the training needs of the Finance Department personnel, I devised effective training programs and delivered training sessions through external professional accountancy courses and internal personal development programmes.

During this time, I was fully accountable for the preparation and presentation of the monthly financial and management accounts to the Saint Gobain Head Office which included P/L accounts, cash flow statements and a summary of key financial indicators for two separate manufacturing operations. I also prepared variance analysis and product profitability statements for both manufacturing operations while facilitating regular meetings to analyse all aspects of these variances.Additionally, I managed all aspects of the implementation of the internal audit procedures and conducted monthly internal audit checks on all relevant areas. I also played a key role in the completion of the annual statutory accounts through preparing the financial statements and related schedule of notes for use by the Finance Director.
