Practice Areas: Housing, Development Incentives/Tax Credits, Land UseRepresented clients in urban redevelopment matters, including affordable housing developments, economic development incentive projects, and public/private partnerships. Project experience includes: Representation of developer in adaptive reuse of historic building into 68 new affordable housing apartments for the physically disabled offering special services using federal and state low income housing and tax credits, tax abatement and tax-exempt bond financing.Representation of developer in the development of 54 units of affordable senior housing using HOME funding, state and federal low income housing tax credits, and tax abatement.Provided assistance to clients in municipal, state and federal affirmative action program requirements, including the development of affirmative action policies, MBE/WBE utilization plans, minority contractor outreach, and compliance reporting. Represented public and private educational entities, and provided legal counsel on state and federal education laws/regulations, open meetings and records matters, and development of school policies.

Served as legal counsel in connection with the ongoing operations and activities of the education affiliates of the Kauffman Foundation to ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations, and human resources policies and procedures. Oversaw the administration of risk management processes to ensure safe and efficient program operations and handled personnel grievance matters. Developed and implemented community partnerships and collaborations consistent with the missions and goals of the organizations.

Practice Areas: Real Estate and Public Finance/Government LawRepresentation of clients in a broad range of commercial and mixed-use real estate matters including leasing, acquisitions and dispositions, financings, development and construction, permitting and zoning, and governmental matters. Counsel to national retailers, developers, and REITS in numerous matters including negotiations of leases in shopping centers and free standing locations; negotiations of reciprocal easement agreements, development agreements, ground leases, and purchase agreements. Representation of developers in securing approvals for tax increment financing and tax abatement projects, zoning and platting matters, special use permits and variances, and public/private partnership projects.

Practice Areas: Public Law, Public Finance and Real Estate Development LawRepresentation of clients with respect to zoning, land use and land development matters at all levels of government including, re-zonings, tax abatements, tax increment financings, variances and special use permits. Assisted developers in mixed-use developments, affordable housing projects, retail centers, office parks, and public/private partnership projects. Drafted telecommunications ordinances and secured zoning approvals for over 100 telecommunications sites. Served as underwriter’s counsel on financing for airports, water and electric utilities, health care facilities, housing developments and public improvement projects
