I work with more than 30 BPA customers to ensure their high-voltage transmission needs are met. I coordinate their interconnection, transmission service and policy interactions with BPA. To accomplish this, I must have knowledge of BPA's transmission tariff, business practices, financial status, customer needs, etc.I am the primary point-of-contact for these customers. I routinely interact with utility general managers and staff to meet their needs.I negotiate contract matters with each of these utilities with signing authority for final agreements.

I manage a team of seven fantastic media relations, videography and writing professionals. I work with agency executives and senior managers to develop messages that help describe what we do and why to local, regional and national media; stakeholders; the general public and other key audiences.In addition, I continue to act as a spokesperson for the agency, write news releases, develop written materials and maintain the agency's crisis communication plan.

Work with agency officials to plan and execute public affairs activities. Activities include writing news releases, videos, talking points, fact sheets and other materials to support agency initiatives.Also responsible for maintaining the agency's crisis communication plan. Serve as one of seven members of the agency's crisis communication team.Serve as public affairs liaison to the agency's Transmission Services business unit, which owns and operates more than 15,000 circuit miles of high-voltage transmission lines in the Northwest.Highlights include:serving as agency's crisis communication liaison and spokesperson during 2007 winter storm response. Major west coast storm damaged numerous high-voltage power lines and cut service to several utilities BPA serves. Some of the utilities lost power for more than 3 days.serving as the agency's pubic affairs spokesperson for a proposed 70-mile 500-kilovolt high-voltage line that would run from just north of Vancouver, Wash. to Troutdale, Ore., which is just east of Portland, Ore.serving as one of the agency's spokespeople for wind integration. BPA has more than 2,500 megawatts of wind energy connected to its transmission system. Learning and explaining the key challenges associated with integrating large amounts of intermittent energy has helped me advance regional understanding of the issue.

Managed the agency's relationships with Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and the 9 air carriers that provided service from the airport. Served as the agency's local spokesperson. Wrote news releases, correspondence and other materials to support agency activities and explain agency initiatives.

Created public affairs strategies to educate and inform the public about property and casualty insurance issues in the State of Texas. Authored and placed several op-eds and letters to editors of major daily papers in Texas, including the Austin-American Statesman, the Dallas Morning News, the Houston Chronicle and the San Antonio Express. Established a partnership with the Texas Mortgage Bankers' Association to distribute water damage prevention brochure to first time home buyers. Created fact sheets, news releases, speeches and other materials to explain complex issues in a way members of the general public could understand.

Wrote news releases, speeches, fact sheets and other materials to promote agency activities. Served as agency point person and principal communications strategist for the first-ever TOPOFF (top officials) exercise to assess the nation's ability to respond to terrorist attacks involving weapons of mass destruction.
