During the spring and fall semester, I was enrolled in courses which allowed for students to create a lobbying firm. In the spring of 2021, the lobbying firm advocated for Comprehensive Civics Legislation and in the fall of 2021, the firm advocated for Equal Access to Public Transportation in Austin, Texas. I worked as a team member in the Marketing Group and my responsibilities for my role included: conducting research related to the issue we were advocating for; writing an Op-Ed which was featured in a press packet; creating social media content and producing a content calendar; and planning for a campus-wide project to encourage students to utilize eco-friendly forms of transportation.

Following the conclusion of Legislative Process & Lobbying Course at St. Edward's, Generation Citizen hired me as a research and advocacy fellow to continue working on Comprehensive Civics Legislation in the 87th Texas State Legislature. My responsibilities in this role included: conducting policy research relating to civics education; translating data collection and research into a digestible presentation for lobbyists working with Generation Citizen; proposing various compromises and pivots for Generation Citizen leaders in the legislative process; and collaborating with other advocacy fellows to discuss and execute strategy

As a student organizer with Blue Future, I engaged in weekly informational meetings which provided insight into how to politically organize within the American political landscape. The information learned in these informational meetings was then applied to the creation of a Youth Advisory Council in the state of Texas. The purpose of the Youth Advisory Council is to provide state leaders with a youth perspective on the issues that are affecting Texas. These issues included: civics education, criminal justice, migration, and the protection of LGBTQ+ communities.
