Here's a rundown of how I shaped my career:1. The devil wears Prada era: I was picking my degree right at the height of ‘the fashion girl phase’, I liked fashion, creativity and business so was studying marketing seemed a good fit, plus I had aspirations to and work in Paris ✨✨ So I did it, a degree in Fashion, Communications and Marketing. I graduated top of my class with a first-class honors.2. A case of the travel bug:I was desperate to go travelling but couldn’t get anyone to come. So ended up going solo. I started in Peru (my dad was born there), then went around South and Central America. I was determined to push way out of my comfort zone. It is by far one of my best experience’s and showed me how much I’m capable of. 3. Now watch me work:Back home and within weeks started in fashion as an editorial assistant. At the same time I perused my dream job at iconic hair brand ghd. I interviewed for marketing assistant and they offered me a marketing executive role! That was the start to my marketing career and it didn’t disappoint. I got to go to fashion weeks, work on glamorous location shoots and be surrounded by clever and creative people. It was everything I hoped but when the job started pulling me towards London, I opted to explore different sectors instead. 4. Honeymoon is over:Despite my efforts, nothing matched what I’d found at ghd. This led me to work in a few different places where my main take-always were;— Friends for life 💛 — A really clear perspective of what I did (and didn’t) want from a business culture5. Life happens:Personal life took over for a while. I got married, bought my first house, became a mum to my two favourite people in the world. I adore being a mum. For sure, the balance is hard but I reckon it has spurred me to push forward in a much more confident and motivated way with my career. 6. How I got here:Confident in what I could offer, I proactively looked for a role where I could make a meaningful difference, have a big impact on the company, learn and challenge myself and balance my family life. 7. Today: Titus; Thanks to the culture and ambition of Titus I’ve reignited my passion for marketing and found new skills in strategy and leadership. I get to work with some of the best people I’ve met and now as the Head of Marketing and Purpose, can genuinely say that if found love for my job again. P.s I did have my moment working in Paris and it was a dream✨✨
