I always thought my dream in life was to amerce myself in human resources for a large corporation where I could balance the needs of the people along with the needs of the company and create harmony. It seemed like an appropriate dream given my empathetic nature and desire for the profession. Multiple years into my degree I still felt the drive for human resources. But there always felt like there was something missing. Unlike most college students, I was a late bloomer. I chose my career later in life after I started my family. While attending Baker College I worked in supply chain management and logistics. That's when it happened; the spark I was missing. I was plunged into a world of logistics! Coordinating transportation, collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize processes, and identifying opportunities to reduce financial spending and improving on-time delivery and performances. Every day is a new adventure. Collaborating with my team and other professionals in my field to save on costing and on demand needs exhilarating. In my current position, I am fortunate enough to work with an incredible team that works together towards a common goal. We carry and support each other in every aspect of our job. Strategizing together and brainstorming the best options that will work for not only our company, but our suppliers and customers is truly rewarding and has turned into a lifelong passion.
