I am still figuring out what I want to be when I grow up. I was the kid who took apart the alarm clock to find out why it had stopped working, and then put it back together again (it worked, too!). I went through three majors in college before I finally ended up with my BA in Psychology. All of this is because of my primary drive – curiosity. Curiosity is one of my driving forces. I get into so many things just because I get curious about how it works! I am fascinated by the everyday-magic that is transformation: from raw ingredients to delicious food, characters into a website, yarn into a sweater – turning nothing into something brings me joy. This is what makes me love what I do. I help people make a great resume that shows off all of the incredible things that they do. The act of taking a list of boring job duties and pulling out amazing accomplishments is transformational – and not just on paper. Those one or two pages can help someone get the job of their dreams. It can take someone who is struggling to make ends meet and help their family thrive. It can take someone from one career to another. This is what I’m doing now for Code You. I’m the Operations Manager, which means that I’m responsible for setting up all the parts that the students interact with while in the program. Before this, I worked as a Career Coach for 12 years. I’ve worked with hundreds of people in dozens of industries, and got to watch them go from despair after getting laid off, to hope, and finally to joy as they got a new job. I will not take credit for their hard work, for after all they were the ones who had to actually put in the applications and go to the interviews, but I am thrilled that I got to help them along the way.I've recently passed the Professional Resume Writer exam from the Professional Association of Resume Writers and Career Coaches (PARWCC), and am now a certified Professional Resume Writer. I'm trying to build up a side-job writing resumes, so if you need someone to look over your resume, let me know.
