As a research assistant, I spent part of my day working with children (aged 7-13 years) making digital stories, and then collected data. Most of these children have hearing aids or cochlear implants, and can hear and speak very well. I began working at t-ogio as a volunteer. Every week I would go to one Spanish five-year-old's house and work with him in English. I continued to work with and also became an intern for the organization. As an intern, I worked on the blog, helped plan and coordinate social events, and promoted the organization. My main project consisted of writing an article in Spanish about the effects of having a child with cochlear implants in the school classroom. I interviewed teachers, analyzed the data and wrote the article.
