Hours During School: 2-10 / weekWorked with the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science college (EECS) on a project called "AttackSurface Host Analyzer" (AHA) that evaluates the security of processes currently using sockets and their binaries along with checking for specific system security measures in Linux (e.g. ASLR, Stack Canary, DEP). The script has been written using Python 2.7 with Bash function calls for compatibility across Linux distributions. The Python script has been "future-proofed" and also runs in Python 3.Functionality: The script parses connection output from netstat, analyzes the process along with its associated binary, checks for specific kernel flags, and then outputs the results to a CSV file where it later receives a vulnerability score.

Hours During School: 20/weekDuring Summer 40/week, full timeDescription:Respond to and investigate security alerts/events using SIEM and IR tools from Splunk, FireEye, Proofpoint, and/or Cisco to collect data, generate reports, and make recommendations to end users.Evaluate and close user-submitted tickets for the the abuse@wsu.edu helpdesk by investigating suspicious emails and mitigating phishing campaigns. Performing account resets and creation or requests of filters/rules to prevent further attack from malicious links and/or senders.

During Deployments (USS John C Stennis):Collected and presented various forms of information to support operations. Briefings were written and presented daily for the chain of command and published to the daily/monthly 5th fleet Area of Operations report(s). Security audits of classified inventory were performed weekly for in-shop and monthly for out-of-shop. On Shore (VAQ-133):Maintaining/auditing classified materials and assisting with personnel clearance management. Various training and detachments in preparation for deployment.
