I led a team of five employees in a wine bottling cellar. Our team worked closely with the packing line to ensure our products meet the quality standards and expectations demanded by our loyal consumers. This included overseeing of wine delivery into site from a variety of external sources, adjustments to spec and quality control from both technical and sensory perspective to ensure DIFOT targets are met, and our production and demand plans are completed.I was charged with leading and monitoring safe work and quality practices by my team members, done by utilising 5S standards, DMAIC, 5-Whys, PDCA and KATA frameworks to ensure continuous improvement among the team. I was responsible for manufacturing excellence activities to be completed and filled out on schedule in line with my labour budget responsibilities.

In this position, I planned with the winemaker and S&OP manager the production of bottled wine to provide the marketing and sales teams with a broad product offering that doesn't compromise quality or undermine competing channels within the business. We use contract grape growers and facilities to execute our production and I was the central figure in coordinating winemaking and packaging plans. This included the development and implementation a yearly production plan for our various own make brands (c. 150 SKU's/ annum), appropriate cost allocation of bulk inline with price-point, timing and production of all dry goods for use, management of inwards and capacity at our warehouse. I ensured; a) that production timelines were met b) COGS targets are achieved; c) the ongoing integrity of our custom inventory system; d) that products are DIFOT accordance with the Demand Plan.I provided and monitored financial data of production and supply chain use in the business and collated this information for use my the finance department. I contributed to the project as production shifted from being exclusively NZWC based to Group based.My wine knowledge and winemaking background allowed implementation of a new wine education program for the sales team to ensure correct product and brand awareness was being passed on. I was also part of a tasting panel with the group winemaking team that ensured a quality parameter on all products we sell (Bronze Medal and above), both for own make and external products sold.To broaden my understanding of the industry, I utilized forecast and demand numbers to develop and stock plan for one of NZWC's key marketing channels, wine plans, where consumers receive regular deliveries of wine based on a number of purchasing habits including variety, price-point and historic purchase cycles.

Planned and executed all manner of Winery Operations. I was responsible for the cost effectiveness of managing labour inputs in the vineyard and winery, as well record keeping of wine production- including WSMP and Customs considerations- and from there developed a method of cost analysis for wine production where there previously wasn't one. I collated and signed off all inforation with regards to excise and wine levy paymentsStrove to branch outside of my winemaking square by involving myself with the restaurant, educating staff on wine knowledge, the importance of story and rapport. I was regularly in direct contact with clients and VIP's, selling wine to private clients and businesses alike. I reviewed, developed and managed our POS, stocktaking and distribution systems. I implemented cost record keeping, with the intention of creating PL sheets, benchmarking and targets for all departments within the businessI wrote SOP's for all work that I did, to streamline the information flow, operations and systems I developed for the business.

Here I was gaining winemaking experience in a foreign country to further my wine knowledge and skills. I was lucky enough to be working with a former colleague and friend. Our mutual respect for each others achievements gave me the opportunity to experiment despite my lack of local knowledge. I bought back information and skills that were implemented into my next harvest at Stonyridge.
