I led the autos advice and autos features teams at U.S News. These teams consisted of two senior editors, two editors, two producers, a senior writer and 20 freelance writers and editors. In this role I launched the company's autos enthusiast content project. I optimized and enhanced advice production by identifying inefficiencies, which led to a 33% increase in output. I oversaw the conversion of both teams to a new CMS, assignment tracking and freelance writer/editor system.Another highlight of my tenure include developing and managing editorial projects, including EV buying and charging guides, EV tax rebate information for every state, and enhanced car warranty content and guides.Other duties included assigning and scheduling test cars for reviews and photos, managing and building the publishing schedule for all U.S. News autos features and advice content on a daily, monthly and yearly basis.Successfully rebranded and launched two newsletters. I also worked with other teams and verticals to ensure coverage was aligned.

I managed a team of writers, producers, and interns, as well as edited new and used car reviews for the U.S. News & World Report's Best Autos. I also managed projects to update reviews with new information and/or for search engine optimization (SEO) purposes, shoot and post photos of test cars that are published on the U.S. News and MSN websites. I developed best practices and performed quality control for the U.S. News autos site.

I served in a variety of leadership roles at Hart Energy as an expert on the midstream energy sector. In this role, I wrote long-form feature stories covering a wide range of energy topics. These features included interviews with many executives of large energy companies, as well as high-powered subjects such as Vice President Al Gore and political strategist Karl Rove. I also wrote a monthly magazine column on commodity market trends.Other highlights included:Developing agendas for conferences that averaged between 2,000 and 5,000 attendees, and speaking at these events, which featured speakers such as President George W. Bush, Robert Gates, Taya Kyle, and T. Boone Pickens.Producing and hosting a monthly video series on energy and financial market trends, which I also presented at conferences.Managing a weekly and monthly publishing schedule while also managing and mentoring a team of writers for these products.Developing and maintaining weekly data analysis and commodity price calculations and projections forecasting macroeconomic market trends.Launching two new products: Midstream Monitor and Midstream Business magazine.Covering the auto industry for Fuel magazine.

I originally served as editor of Gas Processors Report, and helped to expand the focus of this respected title and transition it to Midstream Monitor. As part of Hart Energy's increased focus on the midstream segment, I launched MidstreamBusiness.com and served as its editor.

As editor at MDSI, I produced three newsletters and served as the features editor for two monthly magazines. In this role, I wrote and edited news and feature articles on the medical distribution industry and managed the maintenance of profiles on every health system and hospital in the U.S. I also re-launched a daily newsletter that resulted in circulation increasing from 5,000 to more than 18,000.Other duties included writing the company style guide and hiring, training and supervising a team of 10 in-house writers and researchers.

In this role, I interacted with media and legislators on a state-wide basis on various public advocacy efforts. I also designed and maintained the Association's website, coordinated the Association's annual convention in Philadelphia, including arranging speakers, operating presentation materials, and working with hotel staff. I wrote all of the Association's press releases as well as the weekly newsletter, and copyedited various position papers and the Journal of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association to ensure that the Association's message was properly disseminated.

I started up the company's marketing division and worked closely with the public relations firm on the company's retainer. In this post I designed ads, graphs and flyers to promote the company and its offerings; created campaigns to attract customers; corresponded with current and prospective customers; designed and oversaw the company website; maintained the public relations budget; and wrote and edited the company’s weekly newsletter.

I interned with the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL) in the summer before my senior year at Penn State. In this role I worked on multiple sections of the team’s first-ever media guide, including building an all-time roster, compiling and fact-checking statistics from information stored in the Hershey Archives and the team’s own archives; wrote articles for the media guide that detailed the club’s history; wrote press releases for the club; participated in a pre-interview with at the time current members and legendary players from the National Hockey League's (NHL) Philadelphia Flyers, which was the parent organization for the Bears at the time; designed an ad for an exhibition hockey match in Hershey.
