Directed a research project focused on manufactured nanomaterials in construction. Our team studies occupational exposures and exposure prevention. We also develop and deliver training materials to increase awareness of how nanomaterials are being used in construction, and to share information about exposure risks and controls. CPWR is the nonprofit construction safety and health research and training arm of the North America’s Building Trades Unions, AFL-CIO, which represents 14 international/national building trades unions and more than 3 million workers. CPWR also serves as the National Construction Center under a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (CDC/NIOSH). - Assessed the prognostic value of a novel EEG scoring system among neonates treated with therapeutic hypothermia for suspected hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy

- Analyzed data and drafted a report for a disease outbreak investigation - Created a system for annual summary analysis of reportable diseases and conditions- Helped administer a flu vaccine clinic at a local elementary school- Prepared and delivered a presentation on botulism to the department- Used medical records to classify cases of Lyme disease for entry into a national surveillance system

- Investigated neural control of respiratory and cardiovascular function in vivo- Acquired experimental data using histological, biochemical, and genetic approaches- Produced modified lentiviruses using a PRSX8 promoter to induce expression of light-activated channels in phox2b-expressing neurons- Analyzed tissue via light microscopy and computer software- Cultured four cell lines (PC-12, HEK 293, HEK 293T, SH-SY5Y)- Prepared photographs and figures for publication- Contributed to experimental design and avenues for future research- Trained new hires and and consulted with graduate students, post-docs, and researchers- Serviced, maintained, and purchased laboratory reagents, supplies, and equipment- Assisted with budget management by tracking lab expenditures
