I am currently the VP, International Legal for Akamai Technologies GmbH in Munich, Germany. I have 26+ years of experience as in-house / general counsel in the commercial / corporate law field, with a specialism in the telecommunications and IT sectors. My expertise includes 17 years of legal advisory and strategic management support to Akamai, a global leader in the provision of CDN services, with offices and clients in the Americas, EMEA, Asia and Australia. Prior to that, I spent 9 years as in-house counsel to two major German media companies, providing legal and business affairs support and guidance. I completed the Assessor Exam in 1992 and was called to the Bars of Stuttgart (1994) and Munich (2006). My practice areas are diverse, including commercial, corporate governance, contract and regulatory work. A key part of my current role is to negotiate and close high-value, complex deals, with major blue-chip internationals, which I have done constantly, including the development of ongoing highly profitable partnerships with a major telecoms industry names in the Americas, Europe, Asia and Australia. Since I joined Akamai I have closed 1000+ deals of this kind, leading the projects end-to-end, often in close collaboration with Sales and other internal departments, always driving Akamai revenue and success. During my time with Akamai, I have contributed to the opening of 60+ global markets. I have also contributed to Akamai’s growth in development of a suitable legal team to support expansion, having increased the team from one to six, to ensure that all business legal needs are swiftly and accurately addressed.
