Telekom Networks Malawi (TNM) is the largest mobile network operator in Malawi with a customer base of over three million subscribers. It is a publicly listed company employing 750 people. TNM are aggressively pursuing data opportunities as the mobile industry transforms, and this was the primary focus of my role as Managing Executive, Business Services. ResponsibilitiesHead up the newly established Business Services division. This consisted of a Corporate Sales Team, Service Delivery Team and Operations Centre incorporating Helpdesk and Network Monitoring.To enable growth through targeted sales campaigns. Collaborate with commercial and marketing departments to formulate an innovative approach and follow through with direct customer interaction using the sales team.Provide a high level of customer service and ensure customer issues were corrected promptly by the service delivery team. Manage network quality and maintain to a high standard through consistent monitoring and sampling. Ensure service level standards defined by the regulator were achieved and complied with. Achievements • Expanded the portfolio of a sales team previously focused on voice and VAS products to include broadband and data related offerings as well as solution sales. Achieved through in house product training and team mentoring. • Full integration of a previously independent ISP network. • Establish service delivery teams throughout the country to provide first line support to broadband customers using fixed broadband, VOIP, VPN, WiMAX and LTE services. • Renegotiate contracts and SLA’s of all customers previously supported by the purchased ISP.• Introduction of Wi-Fi hotspots as a supplementary product.

Burco Electronic Systems was established in 1982 as an ICT hardware and software services company. In 2005 Burco purchased an ISP data business from Celtel, an international telecoms provider, and a new division was set up - Broadband Digital Solutions. This division very quickly became the core business and grew to become the largest independent ISP in Malawi.Responsibilities Administration – General management of the following departments: Engineering / Software Support, Helpdesk, Sales, Accounts and Human Resources. Procurement, budgets, reporting, logistics, vehicle management & tracking, IP address allocation and database management. Bandwidth negotiation with international providers, SLA’s. Sales – Bidding & submission of tenders, corporate accounts, sales team management, marketing, website, relationship management with high availability and volume clients, advertising, promotions & sponsorship. Technical – RF Planning, Implementation, Project Management, Last Mile, Backhaul, International Fiber & Backbone, VSAT backup links, Routing, Security, Bandwidth Management, VOIP, Capacity Management, Customer monitoring, Microwave, Power Systems, Network Management, Tower installation & maintenance. Achievements • Consistent year on year growth built on solid relationship development, aggressive sales campaigns and quality service delivery to high profile clients.• Complete WiMAX project rollout from conception to fully functional network. This was one of the first installations in the world to be certified by the WiMAX Forum as NWG Standard 100% compliant.• Design, project managements & construction of a purpose built office in Lilongwe.• Sale of company in 2015 to the largest Telecoms provider in Malawi
