Career development and leadership has always fascinated me, particularly at executive levels. My background in marketing and business inspired a further interest in leadership and employee experience. Early in my career I realised our motivations and behaviours determine the way in which we work with others, the way we lead, and whether or not we reach our career potential. In 2006 I completed my Masters in Career Development and later assisted Edith Cowan University in delivery of that program. Recently my passion for career development in a leadership context inspired me to write a book titled ‘Career Conversations: How to get the best from your talent pool’ published by Wiley in July, 2019 which I am very proud to say has been selected as the winner of The Australian Career Book Award for 2019.Over a long and varied leadership career I have benefited from several major transitions. This included leading large international, merchanting and trading businesses at chief executive level, followed by leading various consulting businesses and finally cofounding and leading deliberatepractice, an HR consulting firm, as Managing Partner and CEO. This combines with my extensive experience and strong track record of successfully shaping and driving business turnarounds. My focus today is helping aspiring, emerging and experienced leaders to enhance their effectivness and to develop their knowledge skills in guiding the careers of the people they lead and to build this capacity into their everyday leadership skill set. Additionally, I have deep expertise in designing, building and delivering the full suite of career transition and outplacement services for organisations and individuals involving large scale restructuring across a wide range of industry sectors. I am accredited in theoretical and applied aspects of Solution-Focused Coaching from the Coaching Psychology Unit of the University of Sydney and a Certified Practising Marketer (CPM) and Fellow of the Australian Marketing Institute (FAMI).
