Hi there! My name is Heather Chase, and I live and work in Polk County, Oregon. I would describe myself as a friendly, bright, and determined individual with excellent communication skills and a stellar work ethic. Professionally, I have worked for the Polk County government for over 13 years. The last five years as the Administrative Services Manager for Polk County Public Works and the previous eight years as the Executive Assistant to the Polk County Board of Commissioners. Throughout this time I have developed a high level of knowledge in public meeting and records retention laws, active listening and customer service skills, and project management. In addition to my day job, I am also the co-owner of the Golden Hop Saloon, a full service causal dining restaurant in Independence, Oregon. We opened the restaurant in October, 2022, in a historic building that had been vacant for the last 20+ years. Never having owned a business before, I quickly learned how to navigate the ins and outs of the hospitality industry, performing every job from janitor to bartender. I adapted to learn the necessary skills needed to develope operating protocols and procedures, manage labor and cost of goods, schedule development, permits and health inspection, Liquor and lottery liabilty, catering, and the list goes on... The hospitality industry has to be one of the toughest out there, and I have never been more exhausted or fulfilled as I have been over the last two years as the restaurant has grown and gained popularity. I have a strong background in accounting and am extremely detail oriented which has been useful as I manage all aspects of the business finances and payroll. I also currently serve as the Secretary on the Monmouth Independence Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, serve on the Traffic Safety Committee for the City of Independence, and am on the planning committee for the Independence Hop and Heritage Festival that occurs every September. I have a passion for serving, and my diverse skill set had given me the opportunity to make a positive impact on my community. One of my passions outside of my career is music. I love attending concerts and music festivals, and even brave a karaoke song from time to time. I find music helps me release tension and refocus on the important things in life. I am always looking for new opportunities to learn and grow, and am excited to connect with other professionals who share my passion for life, business and the community.
