Serves as the Association’s staff leader on scientific issues including clinical research, regulatory compliance, conflicts of interest, privacy, and interactions between industry, government, and academia in biomedical research. Program leader for the AAMC’s Forum on Conflict of Interest in Academe, a group of over 600 constituents who have responsibility for conflict of interest issues at the nation’s medical schools and teaching hospitals. Routinely presents at national meetings and conferences.

Advised academic medical centers, hospitals, and pharmaceutical and device manufacturers in health care regulatory matters, including: human subjects research ethics and compliance; federal and state regulation of clinical trials, genetic research, and tissue banking; conflicts of interest in medical research and treatment; research misconduct policies and investigations; and sales and marketing compliance for pharmaceutical and device manufacturers. Conducted internal investigations, drafted policies and standard operating procedures, negotiated contracts, and drafted legal and policy analysis reports.
