As an intern at the Whatcom unified Emergency Coordination Center, I worked closely with a team of inters and the City Emergency Manager while working on the Bellingham Pedestrian Tsunami Evacuation Outreach Plan. I tabled at community events and public parks to educate locals about the tsunami risk and how to react when one occurs in Bellingham. I completed several FEMA IS courses as an intern and participated in a full-size Shake Out earthquake exercise at one of the fire departments in the city. I attended a Coastal Storm Surge Model(CosMos) Presentation at Bellingham City Hall and an All-Staff meeting for the Port of Bellingham employees where my supervisor gave a presentation about tsunami safety. Conducted tsunami siren tests to pinpoint the range of the siren. Created a design and template for other language materials in order to reach more of the local population.

I was an intern with the Bellingham Planning Department researching temporary encampment options for the unsheltered population. I researched successful encampment models in Washington State and presented my findings to a panel including city planning staff, local outreach centers, and local shelter staff. My case study was presented at the 2019 American Planning Association Washington Chapter Conference.
