After studying at Oxford Polytechnic, I became a chartered architect in 1986, working in London and then Oxford, primarily on residential, education and historic building projects.From 1991 to 2008 I worked at ADP, a major regional architectural practice with offices across Southern England. First using MicroStation as a design tool in 1992, from 1996 I moved into a CAD/IT management role, leading to my appointment as IT Director. Initially focused on the expansion of the practices’ nascent CAD capabilities my role expanded to encompass the whole suite of technologies required to create a fully integrated ICT system enabling effective unified operation of the multi-site business.Wanting to refocus on design technology; from 2008, I was a CAD consultant enjoying working with major UK architects.I joined Bentley Systems in 2013 where in my role as a Principal Support Specialist within Bentley’s global network, I support the company’s users in the construction and infrastructure industries. In addition to the conventional support activities I participate in product development activities, present user events and engage with industry bodies such as the UK BIM Alliance.I was involved in running the UK’s MicroStation User Group from 1996 until 2013.I work from home in Oxford, escaping from the blue glare of the LCD into books, gardening, travel and photography.
