Hi! My name is Jacob, you can call me Jake, or just about any other name that starts with a J. I'm not picky. Hello, welcome and nice to meet you. 👋If we were good friends you wouldn't take interest in my LinkedIn, so from here forward I'm going to market myself for visiting recruiters, talent acquisition and future coworkers worried about what they have gotten into by meeting with me.My work experience is complicated and I have worn many hats. These days I mainly focus on relational data systems, but I am multi-capable working with enterprise-level computer and information systems. I am constantly seeking to learn new skills.Once as a young man I went to college for my computer science degree, but I made an early pivot to follow in my father's footsteps by joining the US Air Force as a linguist. This is the hardest specialty to qualify for as an enlistee and has the highest washout rate. I learned Spanish with a Defense Language Proficiency score of 3/3/1+ on the ILR scale after only 6 months. Roughly comparable to professional reading/listening comprehension and elementary speaking proficiency. Once I learned the language I was trained further as an analyst and by the end of my enlistment I was writing the reports for our senior leadership. At the end of my 6-year enlistment I took a big chance and opted to join close friends of mine working at a web hosting company rather than continuing my military career. I started as a contractor with their monitoring team for the explicit purpose of replacing the team I joined with automation. We succeeded in the transition and I remained with the company afterward as a legacy resource learning many other roles until I settled on database administration for SQL Server. Many of my colleagues warned me it would be difficult and complicated, it was one of the best decisions I ever made and I still enjoy the role very much.I have two kids, I like dogs, I want to get a degree in Marine Biology even though it has no professional relevance, and I enjoy helping non-profits and religious organizations because I strongly believe they make a positive impact in the world.Feel free to poke around and if there is anything else you would like to know feel free to hit me up in the DMs. Share your favorite jokes if you want to show that you've been reading my profile. Here are the 10 Themes that Gallup identifies as my professional strengths:1. Restorative2. Achiever3. Activator4. Command5. Focus6. Strategic7. Learner8. Competition9. Significance10. Analytical
